AVEVA fast-tracks digital twin creation with wearable scanners

AmishSabharwal AVEVA reduced 3AVEVA, a global leader in industrial software driving digital transformation and sustainability, is enabling its customers to achieve a fully functional digital twin in less than 60 days, thanks to the integration of the latest laser scanning technology into its cloud-based engineering information management solutions, the core of its digital twin

AVEVA’s engineering information management solutions are now combined with the Assai integrated document management system and powered by data captured using NavVis’ wearable mobile mapping systems, which allow laser scans to be delivered up to 10 times faster than with existing stationary scanners. Assai’s Document Control and Management Solutions expand AVEVA’s digital twin capabilities with even more robust document information, allowing customers to ensure all digital documents remain evergreen and are easy to access.

“Digital twins have never been more important. They will play a central role in uncovering opportunities to unlock ingenuity and achieve the efficiency and sustainability gains needed to enable net-zero carbon emissions,” said Amish Sabharwal, executive vice president, Engineering Business Unit, AVEVA. “Yet, a digital twin is only as good as the data that composes it. With the new integrations and our cloud-native solutions, customers looking to develop and enhance their digital twin can now design, construct and operate sustainable facilities by using data-driven insights to optimise processes and decisions across the value chain. The result is a scalable solution that allows companies to leverage existing technology investments and accelerate insight through universal, contextualised access of all engineering, operations and maintenance information in the cloud, using any form of visualisation (3D-models and/or laser scans), and built-in analytics.”

The newly expanded engineering information management solution portfolio is suited to digital twin creation and utilisation throughout the complete project lifecycle, for both capital projects and existing facilities.

“The enhanced offering delivers leaner, safer and more transparent capital project execution alongside a decision support system that optimises plant operations performance, strengthening our complete digital twin proposition,” Sabharwal concluded.

The full AVEVA portfolio is being showcased at AVEVA PI World 2022, taking place from 16-19 May in Amsterdam, where around 1,500 AVEVA representatives, partners and clients have come together to share their insights and experiences of digital transformation to drive resilient, agile and sustainable operations in the face of the current complex challenges in today’s industrial landscape.

Peter Herweck, AVEVA’s CEO commented in the opening session of the event, “We want together with you to spark industrial ingenuity because it can only be done together. We have the ability to connect people with trusted information and insights, to drive the responsible use of the world’s resources.”
