Gas contracts worth US$1.2 billion awarded by Gasco

Abu Dhabi Gas Industries (Gasco), which is a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Oil Co (Adnoc), awarded two contracts valued at US$1.2 billion to the Italian unit of French oilfield firm Technip and Dodsal India.

The contracts will see the construction of gas treatment facilities and export terminals for purified sulphur in the Western region of the emirate, reported Al-Bayan. The first contract is worth US$624mn and will see the building of a local treatment facility and gas export terminal at Ruwais.

The second contract valued at US$500mn was awarded to Dodsal India, part of Dubai-based Dodsal Group, will create a gas processing and sulphur refining facility in Habshan. There was another US$84 million contract which was awarded to the Arabian Pipes Company for the supply of 420-km pipeline, according to a company statement.

Gasco liquefies gas at Das Island for export of Liquefied National Gas (LNG) with most of the gas that it chills shipped to Tokyo. UAE, the world's third-largest oil exporter, is spending tens of billions of dollars to boost gas capacity to meet rapidly rising domestic demand.
