Saudi praised Dow Chemical’s contribution to the Kingdom’s economic growth

HRH Prince Saud bin Nayef Al Saud commended the Dow Chemical Company (Dow) for the Company’s outstanding contributions to the economic development and Saudization in Saudi Arabia

HRH Saud, who is a governor of the eastern province of the Kingdom, present a plaque to Johanna Söderström, corporate vice president of Human Resources of Dow and Jim McIlvenny, president of Dow India, Middle East, Africa and Turkey, during a ceremony in the Governor’s office in Al Khobar on 16 May.

Charles Swartz, president of Dow Saudi Arabia, also in attended the ceremony.

With more than 40 years of history in Saudi Arabia, Dow has provided state of the art solutions that help address many of the Kingdom’s most challenging problems like the need for fresh food, sustainable transportation, clean water, energy efficiency etc.

Dow has set up their first international Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant in the Sadara Chemical complex in Jubail in December 2015. The plant produces high-tech RO elements for purifying brackish water or desalinating seawater for various industrial applications such as water treatment, power generation, food and beverage processing etc., with 99 per cent Saudi workforce.

The company has played a key role in Saudi Arabia’s economic development by proving technology specific trainings for the skill development of the young Saudi talents in various locations in the world.

During the ceremony, Swartz commented, “Our vision is to be the partner of choice for sustainable growth and innovation in KSA. With Dow’s global and regional experience and expertise, we have unmatched capabilities to deliver high value, innovative solutions that support KSA in key areas such as sustainable development, energy efficiency, oil and gas, alternative energy and water.”

“We’ll continue to look for collaborative opportunities to equip young talented Saudi men and women for the jobs of the future,” Söderström added.
