BAPCO and EMC sign agreement on data management technologies

Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO) has signed a deal with IT technologies expert EMC for the provision of data protection infrastructure to allow the oil major achieve simplified administration

According to the deal, BAPCO will deploy two of EMC’s systems — data domain and data management — which will allow it to archive files, recover lost information and create valuable backups.

Mohammed Jawad Sitrawi, general manager of finance and IT at BAPCO, said, “EMC data domain systems will be deployed to create data backup to effectively manage future growth and create enterprise-ready, agile and highly scalable data protection architecture. As a result, BAPCO will be able to simplify day-to-day backup operations and renew its confidence in recoverability of critical data and applications when needed.”

Habib Mahakian, regional general manager of Gulf and Pakistan at EMC, noted that the using the new data technologies, BAPCO will be able to reduce the overall cost of data protection services while enabling a single-console reporting and monitoring system to resolve issues in a timely manner.
