He has said that the local government of Basra and the federal Oil Ministry has developed infrastructures to attract investment opportunities in oil and gas in Basra. These include the strategic sea water project to supply the fields for water injection, Aqaba pipeline project from Rumaila field to Najaf Governorate, investment in non-invested oil fields that are managed through the small and medium national effort and several other investment projects that are presently undergoing in the city.

Commenting on the relationship between the oil and gas sector, petrochemicals and electricity with other sectors in Basra, he has mentioned that there is an inconsistency due to the government’s implementation of some of the strategic projects. He hopes that the conference in October will unlock the barriers, thereby surpassing the investment opportunity in the oil and gas sector in the region.

“We hope that the Basra International Conference will market the province of Basra with its economic components to become the focus of the world's attention in Europe, the Middle East and America,” he stressed.

Speaking about the conference, he has stated that the oil, gas, petrochemicals and power projects, the infrastructure and constructions projects as well as the transportation and logistics projects will be addressed at the international conference.

He has further described that he will present the vision and highlight the projects for investment in the region during the conference, presenting the issuance of the law of Basra and the requirement for the full activation of this law, investment opportunities in the oil and gas sector and the ambitions of local and federal government, development of land and sea border crossings and the development of the ports as well as identifying the investment opportunities in different sectors in the province of Basra.
