Saipem to undertake life of field activities on the Zohr project

Exploration & Production

Saipem, in consortium with Petroleum Marine Services (PMS), has been awarded the contract for life of field operations in the framework of Petrobel’s Zohr Deepwater Field Development, for which the vessel DP2 Ahmed Fadel, mobilised by PMS, will be deployed

For Saipem, operations will be conducted mainly by Sonsub, the Saipem business line specialised in management and maintenance services of subsea fields and in underwater technology and robotics, targeted at enhancing the operational efficiency and ensuring the integrity of subsea assets.

Stefano Porcari, director of operations of Saipem’s offshore E&C division, commented, “We are proud to have been selected to support the operational life of the Zohr Deepwater Field. It is an important opportunity to foster our relationship with Petrobel and our partnership with PMS.”

“This contract confirms Saipem’s leadership position, not only as a ground-breaking construction company but also as a provider of global offshore solutions, from concept to end-of-life of a subsea field,” Porcari further stressed.

Recent, Italy’s Eni has announced the start-up of the third production unit (T-2) of the Zohr project, increasing the installed capacity to 1.2 bcf per day, in less than a month after beginning the second production unit (T-1) of the Zohr project, offshore Egypt.
